Creative Process
Artist Statement + Process
I create work that explores the risk and beauty of defying limits and pushing beyond perceived capacity. My use of salvaged materials reflects processes of transformation and restoration, allowing the work to move fluidly between metaphorical and literal space. I work across canvas and paper, using paint, ink, salvaged frames, fabric scraps, monoprints, and handmade papers. Regardless of medium, my process is rooted in organic, intuitive movement—built through brushwork or the direct imprint of my fingers, layering materials until momentum emerges and boundaries begin to dissolve.
On canvas, this manifests as dynamic brushstrokes that overlap, coil, and expand, eventually reaching beyond the painted surface and onto the frame itself. In works on paper and fabric, elements are assembled and reassembled repeatedly, puzzle-like, until they partially spill into the matted margins. By extending beyond what is meant to contain it, the work becomes both a parallel to the human desire for liberation and a bold assertion of sovereignty.
