Whispering Aspen I, II + III
These round abstract ornaments bare the story of various walks through life, and scenery along the way. The holiday season is one that reminds us to approach our journey with a grateful heart, to give freely and often, and to find joy in the present moment, with the ones we hold dear.
Each set of ornaments are reminiscent of a different journey, and the lessons it holds. As with my larger work, I wanted to create a feeling where I can connect with the viewer through story. Each layer adding beauty to the whole.
Perfect as a gift or memento, these ornaments can’t help but capture the eye. These are hand made clear round acrylic ornaments, layered with a combination of metallic foil, metallic paints, acrylic paint and inks. Each ornament is sealed with clear varnish for protection. Finishing touches include a delicate ribbon, a Woke Studio eye and 2021 charm.
Each of these groupings is named after a tree it was reminiscent of, both in feel and in meaning. Aspen trees are symbolic of focusing on ones goal’s, duties and aspirations in life. Their leaves are the most wind-sensitive of any broadleaf tree, making them appear to shake easily and produce “whispers” with even a gentle breeze.
